NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (July 9)- A fresh face has been added to the Brahmas roster for the 2010-11 season as Texas (Central Hockey League) announced the signing of an offensive firecracker, Ryan McLeod, Friday afternoon.
McLeod comes to Texas after spending last season with the Colorado Eagles. With the Eagles, the winger put up 58 points (21 G, 37 A) in 64 games played and had an eight game point streak netting 10 points (3 G, 7 A). The Brahmas are well aware of McLeod’s potent offense as he attacked Texas in their second game of the year on October 17 in Colorado as he scored a pair of goals, including the game winner.
McLeod, 25, was a late season pick up in 2008-09 by the Rocky Mountain Rage (CHL) and notched 10 points (6 G, 4 A) in as many games. His first season in the league came with the New Mexico Scorpions in the 2006-07 campaign where he was second in scoring on the team averaging a point a game in 64 games played (24 G, 40 A).
In McLeod's three seasons in the CHL, he has helped his team charge into the postseason averaging nearly a point a game with 14 points (6 G, 8 A) in 16 games.
With the addition of McLeod to the lineup, Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong believes his team is shaping up into the right direction.
"Ryan has proven to be a great player on the ice in this league, so we look forward to seeing what he can do for us," Wildfong said.
Prior to turning pro the Fernie, BC native played at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (NCAA) for two seasons collecting 39 points (17 G, 22 A) in 49 games. Following his stint in college McLeod went to the Victoria Salmon Kings (ECHL) to wrap up the 2005-06 season, playing in just 13 games.
McLeod is the fourth announced player signing for the Brahmas as he joins forward Jason Deitsch and defensemen Jim Burichin and Nathan Saunders. Texas Brahmas’ season tickets are now on sale; for more information please contact the Brahmas offices at (817) 336-4423.
