BRAHMAS SWEEP BEES, MOVE ON TO CONFERENCE FINALS

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (April 3)- The Texas Brahmas cleaned up their Southern Conference Semifinals series Friday night sweeping the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in a 3-1 final on the road.

The Brahmas powerplay put Texas up 1-0 when Pete Rouleau took a feed from Kevin McLeod and Tyler Skworchinski four minutes in the opening period. Texas’ goaltender Brett Jaeger turned aside 10 shots in the first. The Killer Bees, with their backs against the wall down 0-3 in the best of seven series, took advantage of a Brahmas penalty and tied the game. Brent Gauvreau was credited with the goal for Rio Grande. The celebration did not last long in Hidalgo when Skworchinski beat Wylie Rogers fifteen seconds later. The goal turned out to be the game winner, Skworchinski’s fourth consecutive game winner in the postseason.

Jaeger, looking to advance to the Southern Conference Finals, played strong and did not give up another goal in the game, stopping 31 shots at the Dodge Center. In efforts to keep their playoff hopes alive the Bees pulled their goaltender in the winding seconds of the game, only to have Skworchinski score his second of the night into the empty net.

Texas will now have to sit and wait for their opponent for the Southern Conference Finals. The Brahmas will face the winner of the Laredo Bucks/Odessa Jackalopes series. For playoff and 2008-09 season ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423.
