ESKEDJIAN’S OT SCORE GIVES BRAHMAS WIN OVER ALLEN
FORT WORTH WINS SECOND IN A ROW VERSUS AMERICANS

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (January 12) - Greg Eskedjian’s overtime goal gave the Brahmas a 4-3 win over the Allen Americans at the NYTEX Sports Centre Saturday night.

After Adam Pineault’s firt-period goal gave the Americans an early 1-0 lead, Austin Mayer fired a wrister from the slot by Allen netminder Steve Silverthorn just 42 seconds into the second period.

Kale Kerbashian scored at the 6:34 mark of the third period to regain the lead for the Americans at 2-1.

At the 8:11 mark, Darryl Bootland received a double-minor for roughing, a minor for instigating and a misconduct for instigating, costing him the rest of the game. Alex Penner was also sent to the penalty box for the rest of the game, receiving five minutes for fighting and a misconduct for continuing the altercation.

The result of the Allen penalties was a 5-on-3 powerplay for the Brahmas, and John Snowden cashed in at 9:46 to even the score at two goals apiece. On the goal, Tyler Ludwig was assessed a two-minute minor for high-sticking, giving Fort Worth another 5-on-3 powerplay. Snowden made the Americans pay again as he took a pass from Sy Nutkevtich and fired a slapshot from the point past Silverthorn to give Fort Worth its first lead of the contest. For Snowden, it was his second goal of the night, seventh in the last five games and ninth in 11 games with the club.

With 4:41 to play in regulation, Allen responded with a powerplay goal of its own as Kerbashian found the back of the net for the second time. The Allen rookie’s score tied the game at three goals apiece and sent the contest into overtime.

Just under three minutes into the extra period, Eskedjian carried the puck into the slot and fired a wrister over Silverthorn’s glove to end the game by the score of 4-3 in favor of Fort Worth.

Brahmas goaltender Kristofer Westblom (10-5-2) picked up his second win in as many nights, making 21 saves on 24 shots. Silverthorn (12-3-1) stopped 31 of 35 shots in a losing effort.

With Saturday’s win, the Brahmas are 5-1-0 in their last six games. The team travels to Tulsa to take on the Oilers Sunday afternoon. Fort Worth is 6-1-1 against Tulsa this season.

The Brahmas are back at the NYTEX Sports Centre Friday, January 25 and Saturday, January 26 as they take on the Bloomington Blaze and Rapid City Rush on back-to-back nights.
