NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (April 6) – The Brahmas fought back from a 2-0 deficit Friday night, but Jason Deitsch’s overtime goal gave the Americans the 3-2 victory and a 2-2 tie in the best-of-seven series.

After a scoreless first period, the Americans took the first lead of the game 3:26 into the second period when Bruce Graham cleaned up a rebound in front of the Brahmas’ net. Allen then extended its lead to 2-0 when Colton Yellow Horn deflected a Graham wrister by Brahmas’ netminder Mark Guggenberger at the 15:27 mark. Texas cut the deficit in half before the end of the second period, scoring its first goal of the night as T.J. Fox netted his fourth of the series.

The Brahmas tied the score with 8:09 remaining in the third period, as Mike Hellyer fed Erik Spady for a slapshot score past Allen goaltender Marco Cousineau. For the rookie defenseman, it was the first postseason goal of his professional career. The teams ended regulation knotted up at two goals apiece, send the game to a sudden-death overtime period.

At 6:51 of the first overtime period, former Brahmas’ captain Jason Deitsch beat Guggenberger top-shelf to give the Americans the 3-2 win and a 2-2 tie in the best-of-seven series.
